Dr. Yasmine Sassa

Hi there!

I am the owner and administrator of Photoemission.se. My name is Dr. Yasmine Sassa and I am currently working as a Researcher at Uppsala University in Sweden, Department of Physics and Astronomy, Molecular and Condensed Matter Physics. Before moving to Uppsala University I was working for 8 years in Switzerland where I received my PhD and then later was employed as a Postdoc and senior scientist at ETH Zürich.

I conduct research on correlated electron systems e.g. Mott insulators, superconductors and frustrated/quantum magnetism. In my experimental work I use synchrotron techniques (e.g. angle-resolved photoemission, ARPES), neutron scattering (diffraction and inelastic neutron scattering), muon spin rotation and time-resolved laser spectroscopy. In parallel I also perform band structure calculations using the WIEN2k and KKR methods. Finally, I am also growing both thin film and bulk samples using pulsed laser deposition and other techniques.
